He married Bessie Dakota Cole  the daughter of James V. Cole and Ellen Phillips on 21 January 1932 in Putnam County, Tennessee.  She was born 10 March 1910 in Putnam County, Tennessee.  She died 23 July 1991 in Putnam County, Tennessee.
